All businesses and industries around the world have been affected by the global coronavirus pandemic and the yachting industry is no exception. Perhaps one of the most immediate effects of the COVID-19 outbreak is the number of yachting industry events that were either canceled or postponed in response to COVID-19 health and safety concerns.

Major boat shows and related events are either being rescheduled for later dates or outright cancelled for 2020. While some events are offering virtual alternatives, these date changes and cancellations are having a big effect on communities and companies. Here is a list of some of the major yachting industry events cancelled or postponed due to global health concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic.

International Boat Shows

Palm Beach International Boat Show: Originally scheduled for March 26 – 29, the 2020 Palm Beach Boat Show was canceled. A virtual boat show launched May 14th as an alternative for vendors and attendees.

The Superyacht Experience: Originally scheduled in tandem with the Palm Beach International Boat Show, The Superyacht Experience was canceled with a new date yet to be announced.

Superyacht Show Palm Beach: Another event that would have taken place in Palm Beach, Florida from March 26 – 29, the Superyacht Show Palm Beach was postponed until March 25 – 28, 2021.

Venice Boat Show: Originally scheduled for June 18 – 23, the Venice Boat Show was canceled for 2020. Organizers hope to bring back the event in 2021.

Singapore Yacht Show: Originally scheduled for March 19 – 22, the Singapore Yacht Show has been postponed until October 15 – 18.

The Superyacht Show: Scheduled to be held at Marine Port Vell in Barcelona, Spain from May 6 – 9, the event was cancelled with a new date yet to be announced. 

Palma Superyacht Show: Due to be held form April 29 – May 3, the show was originally postponed to June. However, in early April, organizers announced the event would be canceled until next year. The new dates are April 30 – May 4, 2021.

MYBA Charter Show: Originally scheduled to take place in Barcelona from April 20 – 27, the yachting industry event was cancelled. Dates for next year’s show have yet to be announced.

Dubai Boat Show: Due to held in Dubai Harbor from March 10 – 14, the Dubai Boat Show was postponed until November 24 – 28.

Related Events

The Superyacht Gathering: A event meant to gather professionals and like-minded individuals from the superyacht industry, the event was cancelled and will no longer take place from March 25 -27. New dates have yet to be announced.

World Superyacht Awards: This prestigious awards ceremony was due to be help form May 15 – 16 but has been postponed until September 5 – 6.

Monaco Grand Prix: While technically a Formula 1 racing event, the Monaco Grand Prix brings in many professionals from the yachting industry to the small nation. A well-known hub for yachting culture and business. This highlight on the yachting calendar was scheduled for May 21 – 24 but has been canceled. Next year’s grand prix will take place from May 20 – 23, 2021.
