The Rising Popularity of Hybrid Power

A growing number of boat owners and John Deere customers are implementing hybrid power into their vessels. There are separate hybrid emissions regulations that need to be met. In order to help customers meet the hybrid emissions regulations for marine engines in the United States, the new John Deere marine engine ratings will be released for hybrid vessels fueled by diesel power. This rating is particularly aimed at hybrid vessels that require a variable-speed generator drive engine to develop electrical power for propulsion, storage, hotel load, and auxiliary electric loads.

Speed Rating: 242 kW (325 hp) at 2,000 rpm

Navigating The Inland Waterways of The EU

The European Union has its own set of emissions regulations for marine engines, including a distinct set of standards for engines that will be used to cruise inland waterways. These newly offered John Deere marine engine ratings are designed to address the market-specific standards for inland waterway engine applications within the European countries the EU’s emissions regulations are enforced.

Speed Rating: 61 kWm prime at 1,500 rpm (4.5L) & 117 kWm prime at 1,500 rpm (6.8L)
